Move Like a Kid Again! with Alexander Technique
April 13, 2022 @ 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Wednesdays, April 13 – May 4, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. (4-week series)
Calling everyone who wants to learn to use the body they have with more comfort and fluidity, less pain and rigidity. Have you ever wanted to recapture the ease and joy you felt in movement as a kid? This 4-week series will focus on discovering how our bodies were meant to move so that we can feel and function at our best. This is a fun and practical approach to mindful movement, stress reduction, and mind-body connection. The best thing is – this course will be customized for YOU. What is it that you would like to do more easily? Would you like to improve your balance? Make sure you are getting the most out of your yoga class? Relieve eye strain or back pain from sitting in front of a computer? Or simply get some relief from knee pain when you are walking downstairs? We will work to improve coordination and efficiency by learning how to work with the body you have. All levels welcome.
About the teacher:
Robyn Dixon Costa has been well-acquainted with stress and overwhelm for as long as she can remember. When life as a professional musician failed to improve this relationship, she decided to learn to work with her body instead of against it. She is now passionate about helping others do the same. Whether it is playing music, public speaking, sitting in front of a computer or thumb twiddling, Robyn helps people to befriend their body and nervous system, calm their mind, release excess tension, and generally go about their business with freedom and ease.
Robyn is a certified teacher of the Alexander Technique and a Teaching Member of Alexander Technique International. She studied at the Philadelphia School for Alexander Technique under master teacher, Martha Hansen Fertman.
You can find her giving workshops at many fine institutions around the country, performing music with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra and Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra or teaching at her studio. She lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, daughter, and several furry critters.
