SUMMARY:Intro to Yoga for Scoliosis (Online!)
DESCRIPTION:Thursdays at noon\, January 9 – 30th  \nDo you have scoliosis? Are you curious how you can adapt your movements to be more beneficial to your own unique curve patterns? Do you wish you could attend a Yoga for Scoliosis class but can’t find anyone in your local area who is knowledgeable? If you answered yes to any of these\, you are in luck! Mandy is starting an online Yoga for Scoliosis class. Eventually this will be a regular weekly offering. But\, for those who are brand new to Yoga for Scoliosis\, there is a lot to learn prior to a regular weekly class. This 4-week series is for you. \nEach week we’ll discuss various aspects of scoliosis like curve vs concavity\, lateral spinal shift\, rotation\, and translation and learn how to use breath\, padding and posture to bring ourselves greater support and (over time) greater symmetry. \nThese classes will be recorded\, so if this time of day does not work for you\, you can still register and watch the recording later. Mandy will be available to all participants for the month to answer questions on the live Zoom sessions\, via email (or a phone call if that is warranted). \nThis particular series is not meant for those with a spinal fusion and participants should be medically cleared to exercise and be able to get up and down from the floor with relative ease. \nWe will use the following props: a yoga mat\, 2 blocks\, a yoga strap\, a blanket\, a bolster\, several washcloths\, an armless chair and a wall. \n\nCost for the 4 week series: $100. Register here.\n\nIf you are unsure if this class is right for you\, please email mandy@wellnessinmotionstudio.com

SUMMARY:Yoga Nidra Mini-Series (Embrace Your Now)
DESCRIPTION:While generally thought of as a form of relaxation\, Yoga nidra is technically a meditation technique. During the practice\, one appears to be asleep\, but the consciousness is functioning on a deeper level of awareness. Unlike traditional meditation\, Yoga nidra doesn’t require you to sit tall or to concentrate and still your mind.  In yoga nidra\, the state of relaxation is reached by systematically turning inwards and away from outer experiences\, providing the practitioner with deep relaxation.\n\nIt has been said that one hour of yoga nidra is equivalent to four hours of sleep. During the darker months when many animals hibernate\, us humans tend to pack in more doing\, more buying\, more visiting and more expectations. Give yourself the gift of rest with this mini-series.\n\nThis series\, taught by Jill\, takes place via zoom\, in the comfort of your own home. Your registration will come with recordings so you can revisit these nidras.\n\n1/9: Befriend your body\n1/16: Honor your breath\n1/23: Find focus\n1/30: Choose gratitude\n\nRegister here.

SUMMARY:Movement RX - Feet and Ankles
DESCRIPTION:With 26 bones\, 33 joints\, 112 ligaments\, and 34 muscles (some fully contained in the foot and others originating above the foot)\, the foot is one of the more complicated anatomical structures of your body. It’s made to be very sensitive and responsive. Yet the foot is given very little thought in our movement practices and\, for many\, is stuffed into highly structured\, inflexible shoes. The result that we see in studio are people who can’t spread their toes or tuck their toes under\, feet that pronate or ankles that wobble during balance poses. In this workshop\, we’ll explore our feet and ankles using a combination of yoga\, functional movement\, strength training and fascial rolling techniques. This class will be accessible to beginners and is open to those who suffer chronic foot/ankle strains. It is not recommended for those with a current acute injury. \nCost: $20 Register here.

SUMMARY:RESONANCE: A Crystal Singing Bowl Experience
DESCRIPTION:Restorative Sound & Breath Meditation\n\n\n\nJoin Jenn Dashem\, Certified Sound Healer\, for an evening sound bath to calm your mind and ground your nervous system. It’s truly a soul-nourishing experience. Bring your own mat and any props that will make you more comfortable in a reclined position: pillow\, blanket\, bolster\, eye pillow\, etc.\n\nA sound bowl meditation is a deeply calming and restorative practice that uses the resonant tones of crystal bowls and other sound modalities to facilitate relaxation and healing. As the bowls are gently struck or played with a mallet\, they produce harmonic vibrations that resonate through the body\, encouraging a state of deep focus and inner peace. These vibrations can help balance energy\, clear emotional blockages\, and promote mental clarity. The sounds guide participants into a meditative state\, where the mind quiets\, stress melts away\, and a sense of tranquility and rejuvenation takes over. The soothing tones create a space for mindfulness\, offering a unique experience of sound therapy that nurtures mind body and spirit.\n\n\nCost: $20 per session. Register here.

SUMMARY:Movement RX- Hips
DESCRIPTION:The lumbopelvic hip complex (aka your low back\, pelvis and hips) is the meeting point for your upper body and your lower body. This area of your body is responsible for transmitting force and movement from the upper body to the lower body and vice versa. Anterior pelvic tilt\, posterior pelvic tilt\, rotation\, lateral shift…there’s a lot that can go on here. As yoga teachers\, we often hear about hip tightness and might receive requests for “hip openers.” But are your hips really tight or do they need to be strengthened? In our modern world where many of us spend our days sitting\, strengthening might be the answer. In this workshop we’ll explore self-myofascial massage\, functional movements\, strength training exercises and yoga poses that help support hip health. (While this workshop will include a small amount of detail on the low back\, our next workshop is focused on spine health.) \nCost: $20 Register here.

SUMMARY:Yoga Nidra Mini-Series
Your registration will come with recordings so you can revisit these nidras.\nNidra Sessions: 4 consecutive Thursdays at 8:30pm starting January 8th\n\nRegister here.
