DESCRIPTION:Chair yoga offers individuals of all abilities a means of support for their practice that is available in home\, school\, travel and work environments. It is a gentle form of yoga that can reduce strain on joints and is a great stress relieving practice. Chair yoga offers a supportive approach to improving strength and flexibility for those with limited mobility while also supporting those seeking a deeper practice in their day to day lives.\n\nDuring this workshop style class we will spend some time in community discussing what to expect before settling into our shared practice. Following relaxation we will also allow time to come back together briefly for any questions\, shared experience discussion\, and more.\n\nThis workshop will be led by Kathleen. SUMMARY:Self Myofascial Release Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Self Myofascial Release or SMR is a self massage technique used to release the fascia\, the connective tissue beneath the skin that supports\, stabilizes and surrounds the bones\, muscles and organs of the body. This technique is a great way to support everyday life\, to promote healthy muscles\, tissues and joints\, and can also be used for muscle recovery and injury prevention. Everybody should practice self myofascial release! \nIn this workshop\, we will explore the different uses and potential outcomes of SMR as well as learn a variety of self myofascial release techniques using both tennis balls and a foam roller. \nA few benefits of SMR include: \n\nImproved range of motion\nSense of relaxation throughout the body\nRelease muscle tension\nReduced muscle soreness\nIncreased blood flow to muscles (improved recovery time)\nReduced pain\nImproved quality of sleep\n\nParticipants are asked to bring a tennis ball and a foam roller if they have one. A limited number of foam rollers will be available to borrow at the studio (please let us know if you intend to borrow one of ours). You can purchase your own here. Foam rollers come in a variety of sizes. We recommend 24-36” because of their versatility\, but smaller ones work just as well.  Class size will be limited to 10 participants\, in studio\, so register today!

SUMMARY:Functional Awareness for Mind and Body
DESCRIPTION:Join Mandy for this unique workshop\, pulling upon pieces of what she knows from Yoga Therapy\, Corrective Exercise\, and 20 years of trainings on “all of the things”. #TrainingJunkie We might use myofascial release\, mini bands for resistance strength training\, tennis balls for throwing/catching or head cushions for posture improvement. Movements could include rolling\, crawling (there are a lot of ways to crawl)\, stepping over/under/onto objects\, balancing (possibly on elevated surfaces)\, getting up from the floor in a pile of different ways\, push-ups\, squats\, walking over uneven surfaces…..you name it. Varied movement. Varied experiences. But all with the goal of doing daily life more easily. \nThis workshop will be limited to 6 participants. Masks are required regardless of vaccination status. There will likely be shared props. And we can’t guarantee that 6 feet of space will be between participants at all times (though we’ll try our best)\, given the large range of movement we’ll do throughout the room. \n*This is a trial workshop that could potentially be turned into a monthly or weekly class. We ask that you bring an open mind and a sense of humor. You are welcome to use your typical class cards: drop-in\, 5/10 pass and unlimited passes.
